postheadericon How Double Glazing Revolutionized Home Building

I never realized how windows, including double glazing windows revolutionized home building until I moved into an older home. My new home had no windows and no doors on the North side because that’s where all the cold winds came from. Because there was no such thing as double glazing when the home was built, they simply left out the widows on that side of the house.

While I love the house,it is extremely inconvenient. The driveway is also on the North side of the house so I have to go outside and walk around the porch to see who has pulled into my driveway. Not answering the door because it’s inconvenient isn’t an option.

Had double glazing been available a century ago, I would have windows on the North side of my home. It’s too inconvenient and expensive to have windows cut into a solid stone wall so I must live with what I have. The windows I do have are single pane and in the winter, you could freeze standing next to one. Older homes are nice, but give me modern conveniences any day. I am spending a fortune to heat my home but I am waiting t get a quote on replacing what windows I do have as the heating bills are astronomical. If there is such a thing as quadruple gazing, I’d get it.
